  • anti-slip effect even at low temperature conditions and at risk of ice formation;
  • sufficient resistance to ultraviolet radiation.

From the point of view of specialists, the guaranteed injury safety can be considered as the main advantage of using this coating, which is especially important if necessary to complete the arrangement of a playground or a play area. Nevertheless, one must remember the combustibility of such a product and a rather high cost.

Tiles can be produced by hot or cold pressing. The first option involves a simultaneous process of molding and polymerization at a temperature of 140 ° C. Such a product has a clear geometry of dimensions and good drainage properties, but in the process of long-term operation, coloring of the corners can be observed. The material made by the cold method is characterized by high density and strength, but the features of the production technology make this tile not too accurate in size. The plate can be either single-layer or two-layer, for home and outdoor use.

Modern adhesives used in the installation of rubber tiles can be represented by a transparent or white viscous liquid, which is completely harmless and has high adhesive properties. This is usually a two-component adhesive. Colorless polyurethane adhesive is not noticeable, does not contain volatile substances and is very reliable.

Very well established Laprol PP-3086 based on PU prepolymer and targeted additives. At a temperature of 25 ° C and humidity not higher than 70%, the solidification time does not exceed five days. A feature of this low-foaming adhesive for working with cold-pressed tiles is its efficiency in wet weather conditions. It is recommended to use Laprol PP-3083S. This is the slowest composition from the category of standard adhesives, which can only be used in hot and dry weather.

Sand or soil laying technology

It is allowed to lay material with a thickness of more than 40 mm on a sand or soil base, as well as the surface of their screenings or sand-cement mixture. The technology of laying on a granular base is as follows:

  • digging holes in the soil surface;
  • filling in the excavated recess of the crushed stone layer 60-70 mm thick and subsequent tamping;
  • backfilling over the gravel of a sand layer 60-70 mm thick, subsequent spilling with water and tamping;
  • laying the coating directly on the surface of compacted sand.

As practice shows, for such a laying method, it is best to use a material with a thickness of more than 40 mm with a special relief base that can significantly increase adhesion to a sand cushion.

A high-quality product is necessarily equipped with special plastic bushings that prevent the displacement of all elements relative to each other during operation. To increase the reliability of the connection, it is recommended to glue the end part with polyurethane adhesive. Cutting elements, if necessary, is done with an electric jigsaw or a fine-toothed hacksaw.

As a solid base, you can use concrete screed, asphalt, wood or metals. Fixing of elements is carried out by gluing by means of polyurethane glue. The preparatory process is to remove dirt and dust from the base, as well as leveling the surface under the cladding.

To increase the adhesion level, a primer treatment based on binders and turpentine can be used in a ratio of 50% to 50%. Polyurethane adhesive is applied in a thin layer to the finished base and leveled with a construction spatula. The same layer of glue is applied to the back of the rubber elements, which are laid on the base, aligned and pressed. A load should be placed on top of the coating, which can only be removed after the adhesive has dried.

The basis for the installation of the garden path must be of high quality. If a concrete screed is used as the base, then it should be smooth and not loose, without crumbling or peeling areas. Cement dust and dirt must be removed beforehand. To improve adhesion, a thorough primer with polyurethanes must first be done. A special adhesive is used to fix the modules.

The most popular and common way is laying tiles on the surface of a sand cushion. The number of modules is calculated based on the length and width of the track, and installation is carried out in accordance with the following technology:

  • marking the track, driving along the perimeter of the pegs and pulling the twine;
  • removal in accordance with the marking of the upper layer of turf and thoroughly tamping the surface;
  • laying on a compacted surface of a geotextile layer;
  • filling a smooth sand layer, increasing the level of strength and performing drainage functions;
  • wetting the surface of the sand layer with water and leveling.

Installation of plates is carried out strictly in accordance with the level of the tensioned rope, in the direction "away". Modules need to be placed as tightly as possible to each other. Alignment of all elements of the garden path is carried out using a standard rubber mallet, and verification is carried out through the construction level.

The joints at the very end of the installation must be covered with a mixture of cement and sand, and then shed with water. Also quartz sand is often used to grout the seam space. The framing of a modular garden path with special border elements looks very nice.


Given the very high performance properties of high-quality and modern rubber tiles, care measures consist in the systematic washing of the surface with water. Particularly contaminated areas should be treated with standard soapy water or with special detergents.
