Hot chili pepper is a piquant plant, dishes with fruits of which taste strong people. In almost every country house, lonely bushes of a burning plant can be seen, and therefore we can conclude that many of us have a desire to grow hot chili peppers.

TO Unfortunately, some summer residents are not familiar with the agricultural technology of the plant, and therefore they receive not smart crops, but only meager reminders of it. The plant dries ahead of time, does not ovary, it turns out to be very small or with an insignificant number of fruits ... most often it happens that way. But we have a way to grow capsicum correctly, and professionals in their field tell us, gardeners who have been harvesting a serious crop for years on their own plot!

What is Chilean pepper?

Red hot pepper is a rather interesting, and even spectacular plant, which is a shrub native to the tropics of America. In fact, this is a representative of nightshade, which is Bulgarian bell pepper. According to the concepts of botany, pepper is a berry, but they are used to calling it a vegetable. There are many names of similar cultures in the world that we confuse or attach to one plant. This is cayenne pepper, hot chili peppers, red hot and bitter green, capsicum capsicum and so on. Today, we will start from a common and more familiar to all of us name - red chili pepper.

Growing red hot pepper in the country

The principles of cultivation are similar to bell peppers, but we decided to talk about chili separately, as there are certain nuances and rules of agricultural technology. What is necessary in order to grow a berry-vegetable on the site? Where to start and what sequence of processes to determine until the harvest?

Chili Growing Conditions

The most acceptable conditions for growth and fruiting are considered nutritious and moist soil, a quiet and well-lit place, clean air and heat.

Chile is extremely worried about stagnation of water, high groundwater levels, extreme heat and sunburn, as well as water on leaves and stems (sprinkling irrigation is undesirable).

Growing seedlings and sowing chili peppers

There are practically no differences from growing peppers and even tomatoes. Therefore, you can act on the basis of previously acquired knowledge.

Initially, seeds are prepared for planting, preparation of a substrate for seedlings, the study of the rules for growing healthy seedlings and preparation of conditions for its rise.

After, we go directly to the landing. It is worth starting in February, but if they reached March, there is nothing to worry about. Having planted the seeds in the ground, we expect two strong leaves on the surface, and transfer the young greens into separate peat cups or small pots with a diameter of at least 7-8 cm.

Having created high-quality conditions for growing seedlings, we expect its development.

Before planting seeds, it is necessary to ensure the sterility and nutritional value of the soil. After seedlings, monitor humidity and temperature, try not to disturb the plants with transfer, drafts, other irritating factors. Provide young seedlings with extended daylight hours, daytime temperatures up to + 20 ° С and at night at least + 15 ° С. It is possible to carry out distillation in a greenhouse for seedlings, which will help plants grow better, and also harden in time.

Transplanting adult seedlings

Hot red pepper, seedlings of which reached 12-15 cm, the roots have strengthened, and the appearance indicates normal development, ready for transplantation. For a permanent place, adult seedlings can be placed in a greenhouse or a greenhouse, which we built not so long ago in a summer cottage. Also, you can always arrange for high pepper beds in which it will be more convenient to grow a crop.

In addition, seedlings can be transferred to large pots, along with an earthen lump, and taken out into the street in warm weather, leaving until evening to harden the plants. Thanks to this, the plants will become stronger, and it will be easier to tolerate night cold after planting in open ground.

It is worth declaring that hot pepper grows much better in a greenhouse, where there is a constant temperature regime, humidity level and other parameters for high-quality growth are supported. In the open ground, where conditions can vary several times a day, pepper grows weaker.

In the most suitable conditions, chili can grow into a large shrub, up to 1 m high, and fill its branches with high quality fruits.

Shrub formation, proper pruning

Healthy and strong bushes form the optimal development conditions on their own, but if you want to see branchy and lower bushes on the site, you can always pinch the tops of plants.

If you intend to get a larger and better crop, but in a smaller quantity, remove some of the flowers and stems growing inside the bush in time.

Chili Pepper Fertilizers

Experts say that the fertilizer that is contained in the soil is sufficient for the crop (if you monitor the optimal nutrient content in the soil in autumn and spring). But you can always support the growth and development of plants with complex fertilizers that are applied every 2 weeks. Fertilizer with chicken manure, in dissolved form, will also help.

Hot pepper watering

Watering should occur constantly, as the soil dries. Do not overfill the planting or allow the soil under the plants to dry to cracks. Watering should be done with warm water, not during the brightest sun, so as not to harm the root system.

If you grow chili in pots, you can water in small portions up to two times a day (pay attention to temperature).

The lack of watering can be declared by the plants themselves, covered with light or brown spots that are located on the fruits and stems.

When to harvest

Peppers can be removed from the bush and consumed at almost any stage. Initially, these are green and bitter fruits, at the ripening stage they are red, spicy-sweet. It is likely to harvest and in a half-ripe state. If you decide to bring the pepper to maturity at home, on the windowsill, do not worry, it is possible!
